About "I'M FINE"
About "I'M FINE"
AUCTION IS CLOSED.
I’M FINE” is a picture worth a thousand words - literally. The journaling tells a story of difficult seasons in my past, where I wrestled immensely with my identity, mental health, and depression. During that time, I would always say "I'm fine" and wear a smile as a facade, when in reality I was anything but fine. However, in the darkest of valleys I found hope and experienced healing through faith and embracing vulnerability. I believe that everyone can relate to experiencing these feelings at some point in their life. I hope this piece will encourage you and remind you that you are loved, you are not alone and it's ok to not be ok.

Auction FAQs
How does bidding work?
In order to place a bid, you will need to create an account or sign in to my website.
Once you are signed in, you may place a manual bid based on the bid increment or place an automatic bid.
You will receive an email notification when you place a bid or are outbid.
Your bid will also appear in real-time on the bidding page, with your name kept anonymous to the public.
Can I bid if I don't intend on purchasing?
No. Each bid you place is a binding contract to purchase the piece at the highest bid price if you win.
How does automatic bidding work?
Automatic bidding (proxy bidding) allows you as the bidder to set a maximum bid price you are willing to pay. This then allows the computer system to automatically bid for you by the bid increment until someone places a higher bid than your maximum price.
What if I made a mistake with a bid?
If you have made an obvious mistake with the bid amount, please contact us at hi@wendyxueart.com for support immediately.
However, do not use bid retraction as a way to manipulate bidding.
What happens after I win the bid?
If you are the highest bidder at the time the auction closes, you will receive an email notification informing you of your win!
This email will include a checkout link to purchase the piece at the winning bid price. You will have 24 hours to checkout. Upon failing to do so, the win will roll-down to the next highest bidder.
The Journey of "I'M FINE"
1. Conception
March 2023
When brainstorming concepts for a new drawing, I really wanted to create a piece that would visually reflect my personal experiences from a difficult time and encourage others. Thinking of how how deflated I felt during that time and always putting on a smile as a facade, the idea for "I'M FINE" hit me.
I had to get this exact vision down on paper before I forgot, so I immediately sat down and created the concept sketch!
2. Drawing
July 2023
Drawing this piece was an adventure over the next few months. As one of my largest pieces to date, it took over 100 hours to complete.
In many ways, "I'M FINE" was the catalyst for my art journey. During a season in which I was navigating crossroads, this piece brought me clarity and direction.
3. Contemplation
November 2023
Although I initially envisioned this piece to have a white background, I had a persistent feeling that something was missing while drawing. It felt too perfect and put-together, which was the exact opposite of what I wanted to portray.
The idea of writing in the background started to emerge, but I was very hesitant in fear of "ruining" the drawing.
So I did a little test strip on a separate piece of paper to envision what it could look like completely covered in words.
4. Decision
November 2023
After much contemplation, journaling felt like the right move; so trusting my gut I grabbed my pen, took to the paper, and didn’t look back.
It turned out to be one of the best artistic decisions I ever made.
There is beauty and realness in imperfection and this drawing taught me to embrace it - in both my art practice and in life.
